It is a process in which dry ice is accelerated in a pressurized air stream and directed at a surface in order to clean it. The method is similar to sand blasting or soda blasting but substitutes dry ice as the blasting medium. That is where the similarities end. Instead of using hard abrasive media to grind on a surface, which can cause damage, Dry Ice Blasting uses soft dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, and creates mini-explosions on the surface to lift the undesirable item off the underlying substrate.
